Love the track. I really like how the pad evolves and changes over time, what did you use to make the pad? Nice work!

I love me some DnB, and I like the overall vibe of the track. I feel like the vocal overpowers the drums though, especially at 0:33. Nice work though!

this is pretty cool, i like the concept. its sort of got a tech trancey feel to it which is rad. my only complaint is the kick, its too punchy (i know you could say thats a good thing) but it doesn't fit with the minimal character of the song. overall, great effort!

I would agree, it has really cool direction in my opinion. Maybe a deeper kick would fit the mix more. Also, in the breakdown, I think you could add some more effects, or some reverb-y lead to fill up some space. Just my thoughts. 3:18 is sweet!

Sounds good, I think the breakdown at 1:50 needs a lead of some sort. I like the changes in the chords in there, could be cool with a different sound plus a lead. Just my ideas!

mda ePiano or Lounge Lizard are you best best

mda ePiano is free http://mda.smartelectronix.com/synths.htm

Absolutely love Lounge Lizard for anything in need of electric piano. Also really enjoy NI The Giant piano, have yet to try Alicia's Keys!

have you tried Lounge Lizard ?

Definitely agree Lounge Lizard has some of the best Rhodes sounds I've come across. Every sound is easily editable, so you can achieve clean sounds as well as gritty, dirty sounding ones. They also have great Wurlitzer/Mark patches!

i have a bunch of pots/pans/general metallic object hits that were kindly given to me for sampling, metal hits sound so great and i love layering them with various other percussive sounds, sampling in general is just fun af

Awesome! Also, just taking those samples, and messing with different types of processing, slowing speeding up can create interesting foley material and often times for me has inspired new ideas. I'd agree though sampling is addicting and fun:)

Is this tutorial only useful for those making bass/dubstep heavy music? Watched the first 5/10 minutes a week ago and got that vibe.

I just got Serum and I'm looking for a good tutorial, but that bass/dubstep kind of stuff isn't quite my direction.

Yeah I know what you mean, it is easy to gravitate to heavy bass sounds with serum. Are you looking for background on the synth or tips on how to make specific sounds? I love the Icon Collective videos with Steve Duda if you are trying to start learning the capabilities of the synth.

Composition/Arrangement/Theory / Re: Jazzy chords

Totally agree with what soupandreas was saying, also the importance of listening to jazz can't be overlooked. While sometimes it might be tedious to learn jazz chords/progressions, the best inspiration is in listening to jazz. Recently, I've been hooked on Robert Glasper, Cory Henry, Bill Laurance to name a few keyboard players. Oh, also Tennyson and Haywyre are both doing amazing things with jazz + electronic music

Anyways, I would also check out PDFs of jazz chords explained, even though it is kind of advanced. Search "Bill Evans voicings" and there are a ton of resources he designed for understanding jazz chords visually, not just aurally. Sometimes all it takes is one chord to inspire you in a track! Hope this helps.
