WIPs / Re: Progressive Trance/House i'd love feedback before mixdown
« on: November 11, 2016, 07:25:18 pm »
Super diggin' it! Great work all around, I'm excited to see what the track will sound like after the mix. Once it gets cleaned up, I could totally see Porter or some people like A&B playing this live!

Awesome work for your first production! Better than mine i'll say ;)

Great harmony between your instruments, clean production, and I really love the intro.

The only thing that I could really pick at is the ending is a little abrupt, and it is lacking in the middle range. There's the low pad, drums, and the one vocal pluck for the low end. Then you have the vocal, synth plucks for the treble but the middle is left kinda open creating a boxy sound to the track. It still sounds great though!

Really great work! Keep it up

Whats going on everyone?? This is my 3rd song that I've been working on, I really started working with vocals in harmor to learn some new stuff, also I went really deep into grossbeat to really start understanding how it works with time maping. I would love some feedback on what I've done so far, any ideas on how I could make it better, also some ideas on where I should go with the second half. I'm currently thinking of creating some pads and continuing with the spacey feel.

Thank you for checking it out and best of luck to everyone in your productions!

WIPs / Electro Step WIP! Gimme yo feedback
« on: October 10, 2016, 07:55:23 pm »
Super excited for this one, this is my second song so I know there is probably a lot I need to work on. All feedback is welcome. I'm trying to go for a funky Halloween vibe. Also if anyone has any ideas for the second chorus that would be sick! I'm wanting to switch it up, from the first.

Finished Tracks / Re: Arcuo - Resistance (Original Mix) [Dubstep/electro]
« on: September 25, 2016, 07:01:19 pm »
Great track! I love the mix, it's super clean and clear! You're composition is on point as well. I really do love the leads/synth's you came up with! May I ask what plugin(s) you use to create those? Also what are you doing to get those leads to come out so smooth in the mixing and mastering? They're so clean and punchy and can really hear each punch of the arp or layers you're doing. I really digging this track and looking forward to hear more!

If there was one thing I would like to hear change in the track is at :16 and 1:36 where the piano/string melody starts after about 16 bars it does get a bit repetitive. I would suggest to use those keys and chords to build more into your riser. It would create more tension and really bring something into you're drop!

Excellent job!

WIPs / Halloween Special! Deep Electro hop? lol idk you tell me
« on: September 25, 2016, 05:55:35 pm »
Hey everyone! After I put out my first song last week I immediately started working on this one. I wanted to switch it up from my last song which was bright and bubbly to something a lot more bass oriented and a darker timbre. I also wanted to make something in 128 since my previous was at 150. This is what I've come up with so far!

Thanks for taking the time to check out the track! I would love to hear anyone's feedback!

WIPs / Re: 1st song ever kinda.. feedback please! (Melodic dub?)
« on: September 15, 2016, 02:53:59 pm »
I'm gonna have to agree that there is very little bass, and take it a bit further, there's not much for mid-range either.
Also I don't sense much of an actual melody or defined chord progression (but I mean that's kind of what I prefer in tracks), but that high end synth seems to be more all over the place than anything.

The production is super clean though! Props!

Thank you for the help and production props Arcuo! I definitely took what you said and ran with it. I went back in and cut the high's, I will agree that it sounded way to "screechy". I also added in a mid range melody in the intro to create a more "harmonic" sound.

You were also right about the high end synth sounding all over the place, I had the arppegiator set to bounce which was causing some craziness. I changed it to sticky and went in and fixed all the chords as necessary. Also as far as the chord progressions, I did clean that up slightly as well. I was going a lot more by ear when creating a lot of the melody and a lot of my keys fell out of place.

I was able to bring my bass pad in louder as well! I should have thought about this earlier but I low passed all the high end out of it, and band passed the low mid range to help give room for the kicks. Being able to bring the bass pad in louder has made it more dynamic, in my opinion.

Lastly, I finished up the outro!

If you or anyone has any more tips, I'm still all ears! But this will probably be my last project link for it. I'm extremely happy and excited with how this song has turned out. Especially as I said this is my first full production and composition! I'm wanting to continue furthering my knowledge in sound design, composing, and music theory and I feel like it's time to pack it up on this one and start on something new and fresh.

Thank you again guys for you tips, they were extremely helpful and helped broaden my knowledge!

Here's the final link and some continued feedback would be awesome!   ;D

Drums are dope. I wish there was more bass and less high-end.

I have the bass pad volume enveloped pretty low so I'll bring that up some, and I also plan on cutting off some of the high end or shelfing it once I get to EQ'ing everything.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll see what I can do and I'm stoked you're diggin the drums! Really happy with how the patterns turned out.

WIPs / 1st song ever kinda.. feedback please! (Melodic dub?)
« on: August 30, 2016, 03:31:41 am »
I hope I even was able to embed that correctly  :o soooo anyways! My name is London! and I've really only started producing within the past 8 months. I have a little background with music but really only as far as guitar tablature (which I became pretty good at, being self taught).

Since I discovered electronic music about 3 1/2 years ago I instantly feel in love after I heard porter robinson's and funny enough mat zo's "easy". Basically after being in the scene for a while I decided about a year ago that I wanted to try for myself and I decided to pick up mixing. Quickly I realized if I wanted to do anything with this then I needed to learn production!

I started off with trying to sample loops/stabs/drum loops/etc but I didn't even know anything about tempo and learned I wouldn't have any control over any of my sounds and I would never be able to create anything worth a damn. Now I've tried to cram in as many free online music theory classes as I could find on udemy and youtube. As well as tutorials and what have you.

This is still a WIP and I haven't even put anything through the mixer yet. There is only some small volume envelopes and automation. But I actually do know quite a lot about mixing and mastering as far as sidechaining/reverb/EQ/compression/limiting the basics. I just haven't done it because there wasn't much need for it yet and I felt like the idea of the song is coming out.

After my long explanation and I do hope you made it this far with me  ;) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if there is any tips / pointers / ideas / really anything you could think of please share with me! It really is a dream of mine to be able to create music and be a great composer and producer! I think I'm on the right track but teamwork makes the dream work and I hope I can get a lot of great feedback!

Thank you everyone!!

tl;dr I'm kinda/really new at this and need feedback please! Not so much on the mixing side, but composition as well as any ideas and thoughts!

Absolutely love this track! The composition and arrangement brought the transitions to life. Nice work my friend! If I was to nit pick the only thing I could say that sounded the littlest bit off was at around the 2:28-2:34 mark, when you're creating those slides, your bass note on the lead sounds to be just out of key because right at 2:35 those set of slides are right on the money. Again great job! I look forward to hearing what else you come out with!

WIPs / Re: Porter Robinson - Shepherdess remix.

i think you need to fill it more like with some bass sounds, chords, atmospheres with reverb, idk and then the drop is cool but i think the first sound in the drop needs more bass sounds in my opinion, to make it more powerful! that's my opinion, cheers and keep it up yo!!!

I agree with Apeidon here. A few other things that could probably help with the ambiance of the mix would be to slightly re-synthesis your lead through out the song. It stays repetitive through out the majority of the song and doesn't create much difference in sound which relatively draws it out. Starting at about 1:02 where I believe you're using an arpeggiator automation to speed the time, it doesn't create enough "transition" same applied to the range increase starting around 2:04. It does make for a smooth transition but more could be applied to give the song a unique flow.

Finally I like how you bring the drop in, I can hear the progression in your lower bass, and i like the envelope you use on the lead. But to spice it up if you would add a kick in replace of some of the snare/claps and build it, it would help create more tension. Also when it came to the build into the drop it was a bar or two early, try adding in another bar or two of that bass progression and automate a little distortion. I think that would really help bringing the build into the drop.

Overall love the track and best of luck on the work! Also hope I could of been of any help!  ;D

Inspiration/Creativity/Motivation / Re: what's your goal?
« on: July 28, 2016, 08:18:20 pm »
LIFE : Finish my Brokers license in real estate and continue my entrepreneurial career in investing into start up companies as well as grow my investments.

MUSIC : There is nothing more I want in my life than to have a life in music. To be able to produce music that can inspire others, bring happiness and joy, exciting memories, life. I would love to work with other producers and continue breaking boundaries in the music scene as "EDM" (hate calling it that, but really easy way to sum it up) already has.

     Melodic Dub !!
Started Yesterday working in 150 bpm and 4 beat structure. I'm really liking how its coming out so far! It's a nice mix between something similar to Marshmello and adventure club or Blackmill.
