WIPs / Porter Robinson and Mat Zo- Easy (Remake)
« on: February 07, 2016, 03:28:59 am »
My friend was remaking part of easy and i decided to try it for myself. I only made one section of it and looped it. Any sound design or mixing advice would be great! thanks in advance

(There are two different mixes of it on my soundcloud. One was done using the demo version of waves nx virtual mixing room)

Mixing/Mastering / Feedback on new waves NX- virtual room plugin
« on: February 04, 2016, 12:56:38 am »
I was looking at the new waves NX-virtual room program and was wondering if anyone could tell me if it's any good. I'll try the demo, but I'm also interested in the opinion of someone with more experience than me. Thanks for any help!

Ps. I'm using sennheiser HD280 headphones. Wondering if those headphones + the plugin would be a good combo for mixing and mastering since monitors are kinda out of the buget.

the verse is missing something, any recommendations for that section?

I'd really appreciate any possible feedback, no matter how harsh. Thanks in advance.

I still haven't figured a way around this sort of feeling. But I honestly feel like being musically inspired plays a big role in it for me. Right now I'm not listening to anything that's really motivating me to be creative. Two albums that really made me feel at the top of my creative mindset were "a thousand suns" and "living things" by linkin park. Maybe those could help you out. Best of luck!

Sound Design / How to go about making good bass synths
« on: January 08, 2016, 06:56:28 am »
I'm wondering what other people usually use as general guidelines when making mid-bass patches. What kind of layering do you do with oscillators, and what types of waveforms do you use?

Rob swire, zedd, porter, linkin park, and skrillex really do it for me...

Thanks, any ideas for how to make that transition right out of the intro smoother too?

I also have this same problem. In addition to the sounds themselves, what would be a good way to fit these sounds into your mix since a lot of these sounds have heavy reverb and occupy similar frequency ranges?

Sound Design / Martin Garrix esque saw
« on: January 06, 2016, 06:35:22 pm »
I know this is some generic ass shit but i can never manage to get my saws to sound quite as good as this. I understand a lot of the basics for building supersaws, including layering. Skip to about 1:32 for the sound i'm thinking of. If anyone can offer some insight into how to get a saw sounding this good id appreciate it.

sounds pretty cool and original. A suggestion might be to lower some of the higher frequencies in the intro as they're a bit harsh.

Thanks! Any ideas on how to get my snare to be more prominent in the mix? Is it just the snare I made that isn't working?
