This guy is really so good, this is his latest track :)
A lot of really tasty jazz chords in a lot of his work as well as just general kickass production value. Sort of like a darker early Tennyson vibe.
He's also just a plain really nice and down to earth human being, he deserves a lot more attention!

WIPs / Re: Potential candidate for the EP - Thoughts?

Great work! Classic Orno feel chords :) Not really digging the high arp, just a little too jingle-belly for me if that makes any sense, but overall the atmosphere that you get with the pads and the musical elements is great! Definitely keep it alive :)

Great sound design and also your mixing is fantastic!
I love the FX that come around the 0:50 mark, and your supersaws at 1:10 work well too!
Nice job, not my style per se but the production quality is great!

Really badass!
the clap in the first 1/2 is the only thing that bothers me, seems pretty thin and weak...
THOSE SUPERSAWS are so thick :)
all your drops are extremely tight and I love the drum fills, they fit perfectly.

0-1:00
Real nice percussion, could use a little more variation to spice things up
1:00-2:00
Same thing here, really great, driving sound, but could use some variation :)
also could get some more bass (kick or sub layer)
2:00-3:00
I like the processing on the piano
syncopation is a little bit off to my mind but when the hats kick in I'm really feeling the groove!
3:00-end
Nice job man! I like the chords and the whole track is really peaceful :)
If I was to do one thing, I'd go for a little bigger sound on your pluck, some saturation or chorus could help a lot!

Also I agree with Jay about the outro, you fade in so long with the intro that it feels out of place to end so quickly :)

Sound Design / Re: resampling
« on: January 06, 2016, 02:16:17 am »
Sakura is the master of kickass sampling :D
One technique I like that can work anywhere is take a sound and make two copies, pitch one an octave up or down and put a very slight delay on one of them so you end up with a much thicker and more organic sound. Of course it's all an adventure no two samples go the same way but that's where I start usually. :)

I love your percussion work at 1:04 :)
I'm not sure that the kick hits long/hard enough, this is definitely a style thing, but I never feel that it settles into a solid groove. Maybe swap it out for a consistent 808?

WIPs / Re: WIP...unsure what to do with this

I definitely agree with fungsway about the kick, try and get it to pop out a little more.
Overall though it's super groovy and I'm loving the tasteful FX's you've thrown in there :)

WIPs / Detroit - scoring a short trailer (electronic music still :))
« on: January 06, 2016, 02:03:35 am »
Hi guys! I may be the first poster in here :) This is such a fantastic idea, Rishi and Mat and Daydreamer are some big inspirations to me and this as a community is going to be so much better than KP or some such overpopulated group! I really look forward to knowing all of you so we can all get rich and famous :)

Lately I've been doing a lot of short scoring projects for trailers so I can prepare for uni in a media scoring program this fall. I love how much it makes me write more evocative music, and I definitely recommend trying it even if you have no interest in film music, just as a fun exercise.

Here's the youtube link to a few WIP. They're very much in progress but I'm semi-happy with the musical elements:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dwm9VQucaRE  (It's a new game by Quantic Dream)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mzu0PSk8qoI  (a video project by riot games)

Let me know some feedback on any part of these especially mixing/mastering which I'm currently pretty shit at :)
