Sound Design / Re: Are Greys Guitar's Real?

Sounds pretty damn real to me. It would be difficult getting such a crisp acoustic sound from a soft synth or even samples.

Yeah Porter uses EWQL for most of his violins/other strings. He also used Omnisphere on worlds alot, which is amazing for massive cathedral sounding pads.

You can use Native Instruments' Kontakt as a sampler. It is pretty advanced, but it has some incredible capabilities if you learn how to use it. Another thing you can try using if you don't have vocal samples is taking a vocoder preset (like in Nexus) and bouncing the audio and transposing it.

Just curious if anybody had any idea how to recreate the lead from the drop in this song.

WIPs / Re: MARTIN GARRIX BOUNCYBOB - REMIX

I actually really like what you've done with the track. You seemed to keep the feel of the original and adding some progressive elements as well. For the drop, It felt very very clean, but a little thin. With a lot of my work that I do, I've found that if you have a punchy bass that is distorted to range across the entire frequency spectrum you can get some really cool grooves that make the track progress and feel more bumpy (this is something that I've picked up from listening to Madeon, and it gives drop A LOT of energy). The reverse sound with the bass DEFIANTLY makes the drop feel more fluid and goes well with the lead. The lead also seems to be a tiny bit high on the frequency spectrum, so there seems to be an empty space between the bass and kick and the lead (try adding in some more synths in lower octaves maybe?). I really like the kick that you've put in the mix and it feels like it cuts through the mix perfectly. The second break feels very groovy with the guitar style synth.
Great work man. Keep it up.

Sound Design / Party Favor / Aazar "Arabian" style synth

Just curious if anybody had any ideas on making something similar to the synths/samples used on these "Arabian Trap" style drops. They all sound like they might be using the same sample, just with different forms of Eqing and processing layered on top.

Sound Design / Sound design recreating Headhunterz' Signature lead saw
« on: January 18, 2016, 03:03:52 am »
I've been listening to some of Headhunterz' new songs lately, and they all seem to have this special sliding hyper-saw lead. From the research I've done, he uses the Access Virus TI for making it but I was just curious if anybody had any idea on how to recreate the sound.

Here's a few examples of the lead:
