Get to know your compressors inside and out.

Also learn to distill the essence of a sound. It sounds a bit vague, but it's true. A sound can only be very full in the context of your specific mix. It musnt't overpower the rest of the instruments. Keep a sense of hierarchy. Nobody ever wants full-sounding open hats, for example. Does this make sense?

Finished Tracks / NEW Bass House "Now" (original mix)
« on: January 31, 2017, 05:41:57 am »
Hi guys,
I'm extremely proud of this one. I went for warmth in the mix and a fun, carefree vibe. I think the objectives I set for the track are well achieved.
Anyway, without further ado, here it is.

Be sure to let me know what do you think of it!

Your friend,
Paco

Nice buildup there. I would suggest to have a climax where all of this tension you created releases.

This is sick man. You're pretty much good to go. I would suggest a little more pan width overall and have the lead stand out on them drops a little more in the mix.

It's good this. I see you got the chill vibe going on. All I would suggest is maybe a little more width and space to the synths so they really come to life.

Sick tracks bro. Congratulations on the release.

Hi there. It's actually a pretty solid effort, this. You captured the synth pop vibe very well. If anything, I would suggest working those transitions. They are quite abrupt. Especially the first one @ around 40 sec.  Also a little work with the groove settings on your DAW would do wonders for the melody.  Keep it up!

Finished Tracks / [tech house] Here

Het guys,
I just finished this track.  https://soundcloud.com/pacorobles/here/s-aKUTX. Private link, hence the hyperlink instead of SC preview. It's called Here and it is a tech-house track with sparse drum beats and a couple unexpected sounds. I think it turned out great.
Enjoy!
your friend,
Paco

Hang in there. It gets worse when you work.

Yes if you're selling.

What are your intentions with the bounced tracks?

Mixing/Mastering / Re: The thought process of mixing for EDM productions?

The first big difference is a track of live music is sounds laid over time. EDM is headroom you fill with frequencies across a certain period of time.

That is to say, you want your live snare to sound huge? you just have nobody else play a note on the 2 and the 4. in EDM you will carve it through the rest of the sounds.

The real question is do they fit together well in the specific case you're asking about.

I base their position loosely on how a real drum kit is laid out. It really depends on what you're trying to achieve.
