WIPs / Future Bass WIP
« on: June 09, 2016, 01:35:53 am »
Enjoy yooo. Gonna rebuild a new intro from scratch I just want something there as a placeholder. Master is basic as of rn. Very minimal sidechains and okay eq's. LMK what you think of the composition and lines! It's been a fun one.

Also with every track I make I build my sounds from scratch, or I take old presets I've made and then edit them to how I want them for the track. Like the bass sound in this track is actually the lead bass in one of my other songs, but I instead here made it a stabby pad bass sound.

Anyways, enjoy it and give me sum o dat feedback yo!

WIPs / Chasing Ecstacy (WIP)
« on: May 29, 2016, 04:25:43 pm »
Hey guys I got a wip of a bunch of ideas thrown together in a track. They're not meant to flow together, just conceptual ideas. Let me know what you think of them! Feedback is hugely appreciated. :)

Thank you!

Mixing/Mastering / Sidechaining
« on: April 17, 2016, 09:09:33 pm »
Can someone give me a rundown on sidechaining? I'm attempting to use fabfilter pro-c to do it and the whole process confuses me completely. Thought I understood it and then everything got blown out of the water.

Basically my snare disappears in a mixdown because of my synth. I've done the proper eq'ing to make it stand out as much as possible, but I know a proper sidechain would make it perfect.

Can someone just elaborate on how to do that? Would be a HUGE help to me as it's something I'm completely lost with right now and it's so frustrating.

Thank you in advance! :)

WIPs / Decypher - Future/Trance/Electro
« on: March 31, 2016, 07:58:16 am »
New track I'm working on that will eventually be future/trance with bits of electro.

Enjoy and feedback is appreciated!

Don't critique the master as it's just preliminary. Only did a baseline on most things. Nothing detailed done at all!

Composition/Arrangement/Theory / Empty Space
« on: March 03, 2016, 03:34:53 pm »
I think there is a problem arising with producers nowadays where they think empty space is a bad thing. It truly truly isn't. Empty space is a beautiful thing. You don't want your sound to be so full all the time. Space adds dynamics. Never forget how key dynamics are when making tracks.

Porter's remix of The Thrill is a great and extreme example. The reason the drop feels so full and inspirational is both because of sound and composition yes, but it's also because of how quiet the song is previous to the drop.

Never forget that empty space can be a great thing in a mix.

Sound Design / Zedd - Papercuts Lead

Wondering how about you would go making the lead of Zedd's Papercuts.

There's a certain pop to the synth that I wonder how he gets it.

Inspiration/Creativity/Motivation / Inspirational Fluxes
« on: February 29, 2016, 08:23:25 pm »
I get really inspired trackwise, until my cpu starts causing my tracks to clip (too many tracks) and then I just wanna give up.

I recently got laid off a week before I was going to blow 1.5k on a solid desktop for production and now I just feel like shit.

I just hate hitting that wall. It's why I have so many short projects. And I can't do the whole render and insert into the project thing as I am ALWAYS hearing little things that I want added or changed.

It just sucks hitting this point.

WIPs / Porter Robinson - Sea of Voices (Decypher Edit)

Enjoy.

Let me know what you think on how it fits the track!

Just added in some layering that I think should've always been there. I think it helps bring the song together as a whole. Makes it fuller and more complete.
