Sound Design / Re: HOW TO MAKE THIS REVERB TAIL REVERSE
« on: April 30, 2016, 07:02:30 am »
In ableton just export the reverb thing and click the rev button

I drop ableton's spectrum to find what the most prominent frequency is and it'll tell me what key that is.

Mixing/Mastering / Re: Steps to achieve loudness
« on: April 30, 2016, 06:53:38 am »
The less you have going on at once the louder you can push a limiter/utility/whatever you use, and if you have more going on the less loud it can be. That's why people lime Diplo/A-Track have one synth and drums and it's super loud while someone with more going on like Jamie xx will tend to be much quieter.

Other than mix in key, experiment with different types of transitions such as eqing as a transition

Finished Tracks / Mosaic - The Jungle Book
« on: April 18, 2016, 05:15:44 am »

Mosaic is my duo with another dude, let me know what y'all think.

21
Like the title says, my mixes are always lacking frequencies above 15 khz unless I'm using high hats, and I was wondering what other ways of hitting the full range without using hats there are.

22
Just wondering which way y'all usually find easier for vocals.

Composition/Arrangement/Theory / How to avoid looping too much?
« on: February 19, 2016, 04:49:02 am »
One of the song I'm working on has one of the leads loop 3 times, and if I change it in any way it sounds off, how can I fix this?

Composition/Arrangement/Theory / Re: MIDI vs Audio
« on: February 07, 2016, 09:12:55 pm »
I've always used MIDI simply because it's more convenient, and when I want an organic feel I use grooves. But lately I've been having the idea of only using audio files from stock sounds on my casio keyboard with my very bad playing just for fun, so I may start using audio files more.

Composition/Arrangement/Theory / Re: How do you define overproducing?
« on: February 07, 2016, 09:07:38 pm »
To me overproducing is when you don't release a song because you spend all of your time producing it and never deciding where to stop.

Just learn some scales, or have them open in chrome. Make chords that sound good with notes that are in scale. Eventually you'll memorize the scales.

I like those really screamy noisy drops and thought it'd be cool to put one in a song unexpectedly

I really like it except for that some part of it sounds really off beat and that kind of bothers me
