I was also going to suggest notifications for when you are quoted.  Notifications for responses to your own posts are a very good idea too.

My only concern is that I don't think any of us need another website bombarding us with notifications, so I would just want the notifications to be as specific to the user as possible... if that makes sense.

Basically, we don't need another Facebook.

The most recent producer(s) that blew my mind was Grey.

This group is extremely talented, and they're really in it for the music.

Definitely a good idea! Also the fact that many people might not know how to present themselves and their music online might call for the creation of another subforum - I'll talk to Mat and see what he thinks.

Please do! This would be really helpful

update: whoops I messed up the quote...

Samples/Plugins/Software/Gear / Sampling

Related to "samples"

What is going to happen if you sample another record?  I'm talking Kanye West style... building a beat/song out of vocal samples, music samples, drum samples, etc. from other songs.  What goes on behind the scenes in a situation like that? Are royalties paid? Does the sample have to get "cleared"? How does someone like Kanye (he's just the most iconic example for this) get away with it?

I think this is a great resource for producers of all skill levels... thank you!

Honestly though, discipline is so much more important than inspiration.

Could you elaborate? Discipline in what regard?

Depending on what you're doing, Nexus has some good options too.

Inspiration/Creativity/Motivation / Re: How do you speed up the process?

Probably knowing what synths to go to for certain sounds, building your own sample library, knowing hotkeys for your DAW, and just practice, practice, practice.

Fantastic song, glad Mat was able to answer for you!

Some of Nexus' sounds are fantastic and can't be matched by other synths.  Some of the orchestral sounds, and screaming leads are fantastic.  When I want a sharp, fat, top lead that will bring out a melody, I think Nexus.  I understand why someone would take heat for building up a track that is built of entirely identifiable nexus sounds... but layering the plugin and weaving it into your track should be no problem from a musical, and creative standpoint.  (As you're saying)

We always have to keep in mind that so many people who are fans of music don't even know what Nexus is.  Still, I'll stick with "layer it in".
