I think a mixture is better. As said above remix competitions give a good practice of getting something done in time, However when working outside of these constraints I would say I prefer working without a deadline. But when you get to a point on a track that your spending hours tweaking and not really making any difference, then wrap it up and get it out there.

Inspiration/Creativity/Motivation / Re: What/Who inspired you to start?

Personally I started when I found out my father was terminally ill. I'd downloaded FL Studio previously and never really bothered learning it, but started using it more and more providing an escape from the real world. Three years later when the whole thing came to an end I had learnt so much in production and spent so much time dedicated to it already, that I realized I could never give up and just carried on.

Inspiration/Creativity/Motivation / Ghost Production: Discuss
« on: January 10, 2016, 05:45:05 pm »
I didn't know which section to put this under, but I felt this came closest as often it can seem like your fighting a losing battle for exposure when bigger artists can just buy a song and make it huge.

Personally I would say overall I don't agree with ghost production, it seems unfair that artists get all the credit having done no work for it.

BUT then sometimes I think people are too quick to jump to conclusions. It seems now almost 90% of collaborations that happen it is just assumed that only one of them did any of the work and then immediately the other artist is written off as a fraud who never writes his own music.

Also people wouldn't ghost produce if it didn't benefit them, at the end of the day they are getting paid and are likely to gain the exposure some point down the road. And others don't want to be in the limelight.

Like I said at the start, fundamentally I disagree with it, but think that at times it can work in the favour of both parties.

Opinions people?

My biggest tip would be automation clips. Transition the parts of the songs by fading bits in and fading others out. Use lots of risers & sweeps to compliment the changes as well.

I agree with knappster, if you can't find a melody that compliments your drop, simply use the one from your drop. Fade it in, or use the same melody on a softer sound such as a pluck.

I can't remember where I found it but there was literally one when I looked, it was entitled something along the lines of 'Wiwek Style Jungle Terror Drop'. Maybe use wiwek as a search tag? From what I remember it wasn't so much a tutorial, more just four jungle terror drops made in FL studio.

Honestly with jungle terror I'd just listen to your favourite jungle terror artists and try and recreate them.

Inspiration/Creativity/Motivation / Re: 2016 Goals
« on: January 10, 2016, 01:40:01 pm »
I have made myself a year by year guide for my goals:
2016 - First song on a record label, nothing too big but nothing too small, just something that starts to gain me exposure.
2017 - Start to play a few gigs, regular release on medium sized labels, possibly try and get onto Beatport Top 100
2018 - Gain enough exposure to play several gigs & hopefully by this point be earning enough to live off my music and quit university, start to try and get released on a big well-known label.
2019 - Play a head line show, aim for Beatport Top 10, start to collaborate with big artists.
2020 - World dominance

The drop is magic <3
Mix can be better :)

Thank you appreciate the feedback and support! Any advice for improving the mix I really struggle with getting a good mixdown.

For me, 95% of my motivation I take from things going on around me in my life. This can be literally anything.

When I'm struggling for money, I make music in the hope one day it will solve my financial problems.
When I'm stressed about exams, I make music hoping that I won't need those exams as I'll achieve my real aspirations.
When people are hating on my music, I make more because what could be more satisfying than popping up ten years down the road with record labels, big shows & lots of fans like "Hey remember me?"
But also very personal events in my life motivate me hugely, I find music can be an escape from reality. When I create a huge uplifting euphoric drop it just sends some sort of feeling through me that makes me feel like nothing can possibly be wrong in the world when I can create something like this. For example today is the day that marks 10 weeks since my father passed away, and right now I am buried away on my computer, I've put finishing touches on some songs, started new ideas for others and just in general lost myself in my laptop. Nothing motivates me more than knowing there is nothing I would rather be doing than trying to create something beautiful and knowing he would want the exact same!

The real answer is everybody gets motivated by completely different things. But find out what motivates you and feed off it as much as you can. If you don't find anything than make something, set a goal (even if its hugely unrealistic) and just strive for it EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

Hope this helps

Harwood

Left comments on sc! TLDR; Nicely produced, i were kind of confused by the structure and the energies

Thank you just had a look and I understand what you mean, I'll try and take less out at the point you thought it was going to drop, so it's more obvious that it's still part of the break! Thanks for the feedback!

Heyao,

I like the drums. They heavy and wet enough. a bit powerfull compared to the rest but it's cool. You could use a bigger, if you have one, sub. I like what you did with the detune thing in the break. The pluck sounds lovely.

The drop could use some more power. (Sub bass should be enough, to fix that) More Supersaws could also work.

The second break could use a little variation, more than being the same as the first one. Vocals after the build are a bit too dry. Put some reverb on it ;)

Anyway this is good. :D

Thanks Babasmas for the feedback really appreciate it! Will look at adding a sub, probably just a 3x OSC on the 3rd octave with the top end taken all the way off, and will also play with the vocals.

Thanks again!

This is a track I am currently working on. Any general feedback would be appreciated. Also as you will hear currently before the drop there is a vocal shout, which is currently recorded by myself and sounds pretty atrocious, if anybody with a half decent voice would like to feature on the track it would be hugely appreciated!
