I really like the different sections and the build up transitions nicely. Although something in the vocal lead sounds a little harsh/too resonant to my ears, maybe just sweep through with an eq and make a little cut there.

Thanks for the feedback Zali, i will go back and lower some of my instruments. I agree about the verse 2 transition, needs to be smoother.

WIPs / First ever remix attempt wip

Hi guys, Im giving a remix a go because i was hoping it would be a great way to learn something new that i have never done before. Its going to be the remix of Frend. I was hoping someone could have a listen at what i have so far and give any pointers on mix or arrangement. Obviously its a bit rough atm the but would be happy to provide feedback in return :)

If you dont know any music theory brush up on that. And also like the other dude said copy a melody you like see why it works and analyse it. It might just inspire you:)

Im gonna go with neuro-dnb, just because theres usually very little melodic information to go on so you need to make it interesting with groove (bass sound design) and atmosphere. I suck at bass sound design when it comes to chopping up bass bits and resampling it and doing it all again, super tedious for me.

Totally, I find when i write something and then leave it for a week and come back my perspective has changed on it almost completely.I find this is a useful thing when you are stuck on a track.

make your environment more inspiring. Get some artwork to put so you can look at it when your jamming. Try getting rid of clutter and maybe re-decorate. Also make sure everythings plugged in and set up so you dont have to spend time doing that everytime you want to create (becomes a real killjoy)

FL has a very detailed manual too, and sometimes it goes beyond how the software works and into how to use it. Like their mastering suite has a quick primer on the Loudness War.

I'll say that picking a DAW is like picking a starter Pokemon. Not always an easy choice, but it's the rest of your team- and you- that determines how you do against the Elite Four.
(Laziness, inertia, despair, and unwillingness to innovate. Or something.)

nice analogy :)

I dont know of any particular tuts but use eq to remove some space from other instruments where your toms are hitting. For example find where the toms mainly hitting and automate the eq in the other instruments that are masking it. So they only drop in volume in that specific frequency range rather than full spectrum like regular sidechaining which is less subtle.

Pretty sure the detune sound is from playing 5ths as in tune one of the oscillators up 7 semitones kinda thing. Then leave the other osc at base pitch.
