Hmm most of my itunes is actually not electronic music... I use soundcloud for my fix of that mostly, here's a look:

I really liked that new PR big catzz thing so I gave the supersaw synth part a go! I tried not to use the PRL version as reference since it's cheating :D

This would be awesome! I think another thing is whoever "wins" the challenge (if they'll be something you can even win) should never post the patch or whatever, but instead explain the process in which he was able to tackle the challenge and do it.

hey fellas, so yeah as the title states I was just wondering if there was a way to make it so the envelope doesn't reset on each keypress (in sylenth). The effect i'm trying to recreate can be found here (the lead synth):

https://soundcloud.com/porter-robinson/porter-robinson-flicker-mat-zo-remix#t=2:12

I realize i can simply layer the main synth with an LFO vst modulating the pitch, but i'd much prefer to be able to do it within the synth. thanks in advance! <3

What exactly are you trying to modulate with the envelope? May help me understand what effect you're going for a little better, or if you're lucky maybe mat will tell you himself.
I would be modulating the pitch, if you listen to the lead closely you can hear there's the main lead sound then another one playing the same thing but falling down in pitch.

@ocular: thank you so much I was so fixated on doing it with modulation that i never even though of automating the pitch instead (definitely makes it easier to control, too). thank you guys <3

Samples/Plugins/Software/Gear / Re: Tuning Drum Samples in your DAW

I actually just use the piano roll on FL, although since it shortens/lengthens the sample I'll mess around with the ADSR and a transient shaper until the tail and attack are where i want them again. This is probably a really inefficient way of doing it but I don't know a better way... ;;

3xosc is a just a little click for sidechaining and flicker is my ref track, i'm basic yo.

what about the mixer ? anything there ?

My master has SPAN -> MSED -> Wavecandy to analyze everything and then I just have that 3xosc track routed into a couple of other channels for sidechaining.

A thing another website I like to frequent does is C4C, which means comment for comment. That means if you tag your threads title with C4C, someone will give you feedback and put the link of their song's thread, then you are obligated to go to their thread and give them a comment. This works extremely well and has been in place for like 8 years on the other website I go on. They also have a strict rule against bumping which means the only way to keep your thread seen is to constantly be giving feedback to other people's music.

for example my title would be this
Technicolor Type - meme (psy-jazz blowjob fusion trap) [C4C]

Hard to say but a song that sticks out to me for creativity is "Never catch me" by Flying Lotus with Kendrick Lamar.

I think this would be a very useful addition to the forums for tutorials or songs that aren't on soundcloud.

Composition/Arrangement/Theory / Re: How did you learn how to make music?

I transposed all my favorite songs on guitar pro which is some basic midi program that allows you to input notes in the form of a guitar neck and it'll play it back for you. Eventually I started to compose my own songs and the rest is history.

self taught myself how to play guitar when I was fourteen. played in hardcore metal/metalcore/progressive metal bands through High school and college (uni :D) sold my guitar and bought Ableton 9. never looked back. I still have my half stack and tube amp waiting for the day when I decide to purchase a new guitar. always end up spending money on VST's plugins and or presets :\
Damn we're one in the same except I never got rid of my guitar. Still have like 3 sm57s and my shitty steinberg audio interface which I never use lol. A new guitar is up there on my list of things to buy and I might splurge on a new audio interface too since I'm getting an itching to somehow incorporate heavily processed guitars into my music.
