Finished Tracks / Re: u:ser - quake (134bpm trance)

I would add some driving percussion to add momentum to the main section(s), and make more use of transitions, risers and sweeps etc.

Structurally, this feels like it needs some work. Most of all, there's not one element that seems like its really the centrepiece of the track, and the way things come in and out throughout the track feels a little haphazard - there's not a really obvious build-drop-etc. structure to the track. Hope that makes sense.

this is the kind of feedback i was looking for . thanks man will see what i can do for my next track!

Looking for some feedback. This is my final mixdown and in my opinion it sounds pretty good.

Mixing/Mastering / How to make that crispy high end?
« on: January 18, 2016, 05:55:07 pm »
I understand that some of it has to do with the mastering for the final product, and that certain genres have different requirements that make the genre what it is.

For example, madeon's track seems to be focused heavily on its high end. I'm not a huge fan of this kind of mixing as it can be ear piercing sometimes. https://soundcloud.com/madeon/pay-no-mind

But, for my tracks I tend to lack it most of the time. This downtempo loop was rendered at -6db with nothing on the master channel. With each sound I mostly cut frequencies that interfered with eachother and/or was peaking. https://instaud.io/hNu

Is there anything that I'm missing here?

Not really sure where I'm going with this. Any ideas would be helpful!

Bass flow is good. Never really a fan of that main bass  you got there.

I've been so use to using piano rolls that I don't really need to do this to be "creative" sure it looks cool to the non trained eye but it just wastes time honestly.

Like Nala said, with proper moderation and rules that prohibit self-promotion and spamming and all that good stuff, it can be a really valuable asset to a forum-based community.

That's why I suggested #edmproduction

It's already well regulated, no point in making a new one if no one will stay.

There is like, no dynamic range in your main part of the track at all. I would also change those drum samples to a more... suitable sound for this style of sound.

Did you max your threshold and put infinite gain on this or something?

Sound Design / Re: Synth Secrets - The theory behind sound synthesis

Agreed! This is such a good resource, but read it slowly because it is a TON of information to take in, it goes very in detail. Very much worth the read, though.

Seamlessr's synth tutorials on youtube really break down everything for a new user.

Seriously, just build one yourself. Laptops are only good for if you are frequently somewhere else.

You could always just EQ with your eyes. ;)
