scraps. scraps scraps scraps scraps and more scraps.

Scraps are literally any sample which you slapped as many effects on as possible and twisted in different ways; reverb, phase, delay, chorus, granulation, more verb, pitch automation, etc.. go wild with the reverb. Seriously, go to town.  Make those suckers 3 minutes long.  Put a spectrum analyzer on it to check the key, save it with the key for future reference.

I use these for dark atmosphere or even I'll even shape them further in my techno tracks to make trippy vocal shots. The idea is to overtime build a library of these things so that way you just have a whole bunch of different sounds to choose from which you can further shape to better fit the style of your music :)

Good afternoon!

I am reading two books at the moment, one fiction and the other non-fiction.  While I have not finished either of them, I feel both books are imperative to any producer/artist hoping to make a life of their craft.

The non-fiction book is geared towards producers of the electronic style and called The Music Producer's Survival Guide: Chaos, Creativity, and a Career in Independent and Electronic Music by Brian M. Jackson.  This books covers a wide variety of topics ranging from music on the universal level, production and lifestyle tips, and the creative process.

The fiction book is titled The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.  Argued as one of the best selling books of the 20th century, the book is about a Spanish shepherd's quest to the Egyptian Pyramids where he believes he is to find his 'treasure'.  This story is one GIANT metaphor for people on the path of doing what they want/what they love.  Please anyone who sees this, grab a copy. It is ~150 pages and probably not even $25.
