Hey! posted this song in WIP some months ago, and some of you asked for the finished version, so here it is.

i appreciate any feedback (even if it is already released, i can improve from the tips in the future).

Sound Design / Re: The "How do I make this sound?" thread

Hey!

was wondering how you make these metallic-ish supersaws that slushii uses in the drop in this song:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8hRRRJp1rQ

as far as i can hear there are some layering involved, but other than one layer that is almost not detuned, and one that is slightly detuned, i cannot figure out the rest, been trying out some different stuff, but the texture and eq'ing doesn't get any near.

i know this is probably pretty easy, but since i'm pretty new to sound design i just can't wrap my head around it just yet.
anyone who knows how to do something similar?:)

Thanks for the feedback man! did some polishing and editing on it, it´s closer to a finished project now :) needs some further polishing here and there, and proper mastering.

Just get deeper and deeper into the music, eventually you'll truly discover what you like and what you'd like to do. There are certain sounds and certain vibes I like, I combine them in a way noone else does and I keep refining that idea song by song. Some people are unable to create whatever they want on purpose and just make what comes to them naturally. I collect vibes and sounds like a machine, my brain is like a sponge that soaks up knowledge in order to enable me to create more. Both ways work, but the ability to steer what you are doing definitely gives you an edge in terms of how original and innovative your work can be. If you'd like that ability, start studying music in its smallest parts and develop yourself with the music rather than just your art. Be openminded and don't shy away from challenges or insurmountable obstacles. Take everything apart into tiny atoms and concepts, then rearrange them into whatever you can imagine.

This might be the best answer i´ve ever seen. Great tips!

I actually take that as a huge compliment! haha.

Regarding the chord progression, the similarity is not intentional at all, since i can not remember to have heard it before. Do you by any chance have a reference for the other track so i can change it if i feel it´s too similar? i don´t want people to think i´m some cheap rip off, haha.

was actually thinking about changing the piano as a whole to a different sound, i just haven´t gotten to that yet. and i can see what you mean about it sounding like a nursery rhyme xD

not totally sure what you mean about the rythm of the lead, do you mean the LFO shape isn´t in sync with the bpm? if that´s the case i can agree to some extent.

Thanks for the good feedback! will update the link as i go:)

Good work on fitting in the vocals! pretty cool moving effects on the chords as well.

have to agree with endlesstea on the part where the drop doesn´t have the extra impact it needs, if you sort that out i think it will end up being a great piece!

might be that it´s because the fact that soundcloud doesn´t bang out 320kbps quality, but i feel like you could make those arpeggios a bit more present, they kinda drown in the build-up. and make those beautiful percussions you have under there shine a bit more, have you tried compressing them?

keep it up! looking forward to hear the finished result!:)

i think the guys above got it pretty good! i like the overall feeling of the song.

imo i would let the piano play at 42 sec, feels a bit abrupt to suddenly stop it, since i like the overall emotion it gives.
other than that, good work man!:)

This is great man. Nothing i can hear right now that i would change:)  The arrangement is on point, the supersaws are really nice, the bass saw is not too loud, it´s such a dynamic track! changes all the time, i really enjoyed this one.

You took care of the small adjustments you had to from the previous version, and you nailed it.

Bravo.

Great tune! i love your drumrolls and vocal chops, fits really well. the sub may be a little loud in the breakdown/buildup, as Hirtone said, but i honestly must say i like it that way! except for some additional reverb or delay to the saw in order to make it sound a bit wider i think you got this!
