I got a Launchpad for Christmas from my sister, and to be honest it has just been collecting dust on my desk. I'm not sure what kinds of things it can do for me since I'm a Logic Pro user. Anyone have any ideas or experience with setting up one? Some ideas I had were to configure it to a drum machine like Battery 4 maybe?

KSHMR recommends this cool Kontakt guitar plugin that let's you have a ton of control over the way the guitar strums and such. Looks really awesome, and I'm sure he uses it in a lot of his tracks.

Samples/Plugins/Software/Gear / OP-1... Is this worth it's hefty price?

Been interested in an OP-1 for YEARS now, but have always been turned away by its price. Does anyone have personal experience with this?

Logic Pro X user, wondering if anyone has updated to the new macOS and have had success/problems I should be aware of.

Hey guys!

Below is my latest remix with Project Initiate. Let me know your thoughts, and what we did well/could have done better. Any support on the track is also very appreciated!

Sound Design / Re: Remove "click" sound from a synth

I was able to fix it! It was an Envelope attack setting that was causing the click. Thanks for the responses, made me look back at my patch and especially the attack.

Sound Design / Remove "click" sound from a synth
« on: August 26, 2016, 04:13:40 am »
I am working with a Pad synth chord that clicks on every note being played. Very loud and very annoying. I tried to sweep it out with EQ but couldn't focus in on it, and tried to use compression and an enveloper as well to trim it down, but none of the above has removed the click without compromising the initial attack of the chord. Any suggestions?

Trilian is for bass, but there are still some good guitar samples in there.  If you're buying it for the bass though, it's worth every penny.  I dropped the 300 (back when I was still living with my parents, I could understand the hesitation now) and I dont regret it one bit.

As far as my favorite for guitars, I have found some reeeeeally good guitar samples on Goliath by East West.

thanks man!

I'm no guitar player, but I'd really like to purchase a VST that can create some "real" sounding guitar patches for me. Would love the flexibility to use guitar progressions in verses. Any recommendations? I've already been pointed at Trilian by Morgan Page, but still uneasy about snapping on it and dropping the $300.

Is this program going to be more rock/metal based? When I checked out the website it seemed to be more focused on that.

Friend also told me that somehow Logic X starts to feel a bit GarageBand-ish. Dunno.

Agree with this, really hoping Apple comes out with support for themes much like Ableton has. But to everyone else, workflow must be the core thing about it. I've known about 32 lives for quite some time now so the 32 bit reason flew over my head.

As as Logic Pro X user, I've always been confused when I see previews of songs and other videos showcasing logic pro 9 as the DAW used. Anyone know why these producers don't update? I know some might not want to re-learn things or have certain habits broken, but isn't it worth it? Lemme know your thoughts.

I just got my beyerdynamic DT 990 pro's in and boy do I love them. They run about 190, I spent 210 with over night shipping on amazon. Great buy honestly, It opened the way I listen to music.

I can support the beyerdynamic DT 990 pro's as well, I've used them for mixing for many months now and were SO worth it.

I saw that your original headphone selections were all closed-back headphones. Was that on purpose? Have you considered open-back headphones like the beryerdynamic DT 990 Pro? If you are confused by the differences between open/closed back, here's a great article that describes it simply:

Samples/Plugins/Software/Gear / Re: EDM/House Vocalist Request

I landed a collaboration with a VERY talented vocalist (nameless for privacy) by simply emailing him my track and presenting the demo. Make sure the track you have is "pitch ready" before you go looking for a vocalist, because it will be much harder to line up a collaboration without a great track to pitch them. But if you think you're ready, find some songs with a vocal style you're looking for, and just look up their contact info and present the collab.

Feel free to ask with other questions, and good luck!

I think you did a nice job of carrying out the verse despite having a vocal! It's hard to keep a listener engaged sometimes without one. I agree that the piano and bass interfere with each other, so keep that in mind with your next one! Good tune.
