A front page/trending page
« on: January 08, 2016, 05:17:30 pm »
I feel like there should be a way to up-vote/like/favourite a post and the most popular posts of the day/week should be displayed on the front page. This will allow for people to either discover new music quicker and generally help find informative posts.

Whoa there buddy, relax on the font size.

No, I don't agree. I really hope this stays a "old school" forum where the things which deserve publicity get's publicity through replies on the topic and where you have to actually put in some effort to get the information which you want. I'm sick of all the "lay back, never activate your brain" stuff which is all over the internet, but that's just me.

And then it would be very bias and kind of unfair to a lot of threads. Say 95% of all the threads holds excelent quality, then only 1 of those threads get publicity, or get a much higher amount of publicity. Feels unfair somehow, but that's just my silly oldschool bitter opinions.
I would write something here, but I'm too lazy to do so

YES! I agree. However, it would be nice if you could have a setting where you go straight to a certain page when you log in (e.g., "My posts"). I've seen other forums that do that.

Yeah a "My posts" section would be a lot better

i don't agree with this completely because we have had the old school approach to forums and it works in most ways but it lacks in content discovery. The front page thing might not be the best thing but i think that a side bar with the most recent threads or most active threads in the past two hours in every forum could be good. so that one can log in and directly find something to contribute to or read
Imagine my surprise when I found out "restraining order" did not mean she wanted me to tie her up.

Well we already have a similar thing with stickies, in my opinion. I think as the forum develops past its infancy, we'll start to see trends emerge and forum moderators and other active members of the community can start creating megathreads that get stuck to the top of each forum like the various announcements. We can start creating big OPs with info that's been collected, have a sort of "verified" FAQ for the most commonly asked questions on each topic, and really cut down on the clutter so new threads have enough time to get noticed.

I do think we need some sort of discovery system to help regulate the feedback section, though.

That does exist already. if you go to your profile under your profile info there is a "my posts" option. its a little out of the way but its there.
