How to go about making good bass synths

I'm wondering what other people usually use as general guidelines when making mid-bass patches. What kind of layering do you do with oscillators, and what types of waveforms do you use?

It really all depends on what kind of a bass and sound you want to get. Deep house? Dub? Synthy? It all depends. On some nice dub bass wobbles I honestly really like tweaking squares to get the best sound. Mix that with a nice filter and more and you can get some filthy sounds.

A finely tuned saw can be really good for getting that gritty aggressive sort of sound. Serum is REALLY good for that. For bass sounds I tend to favor Serum, but Massive can be used to get some as well.

For deep house pairing an fmfm with a sine or triangle can get some unique combinations.

I learned all this just from experimenting. That's how I find you really get your best and most unique sounds. Just mess around. Try combinations. Tweak away. See wherever it'll take you.

If you want examples of what I mean of sounds I can make a short track with examples and attach it. Just lmk!
