So this happens time & time again maybe it's because I lack knowledge on how to build chords with variety or how to build chords at all but I can't seem to push this recently started track forward. Like I'm stuck on how to make it sound good nice etc, I have no real set genre on mind but i what I'm aiming for is emotional & future bassish if it doesn't fit the style i'll change it but, I don't know how to move on with this track, I don't have vocals because I want to teach myself to carry on song without any vocals maybe a tiny samples here and there but no real vocals as the lead, I want it to get real emotion with a synth later but any advice? it's still in it's beginning by the way

Check out www.dancemusicproduction.com for a lot of awesome tutorials including links to a dance music manual. What you can also do is find the midi of a track for a remix or something and it should have the chords already there. Usually I will get an idea for a track and then lay out the kick and drums for the entire structure of the track. That way I have the shell of the track formed and I can work on each part as I see fit.

Hey KAB,

when I started out and got stuck in this type of situation, I looked at the structure of electronic music (some helpful videos therehttps://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=electronic+music+structure), tried to find patterns that are often used and recreate and reuse them in tracks myself.

Load some of your favorite songs in your DAW and set the beatgrid accordingly, and then label and tag the shit out of it: create markers for the different song parts, write down after which bar which element comes in - and, probably most importantly - what that makes you feel like. There has to be a reason (emotionally) for why you really like this song in particular, so try to find it!!
I'd suggest you to do this with a song that has few elements first, so you can find out how to make a progression with less - and less is sometimes more!

I'd say you'll get a feel for progression this way, and will be able to translate whatever you want to say with your music more easily into the production!

Good luck and tell me if this worked for you,
Artless Venture ♢ (:

Whenever I have writers block the best thing I can do for myself is simply push through it. Just keep going. Keep writing. Trust in your instinctual creativity and know that there is an infinite amount of music that can be written from scratch. I like what you've got so far. Keep going!
