Lenno Shimmers!
« on: January 08, 2016, 04:16:20 am »
I've been trying to make the little shimmer type of fx similar to the beginning of this beautiful Lenno track, but I haven't been able to get very close. If anyone has any suggestions, especially making something like that in Diva, it'd be so helpful!

Hey there,

Looks like a very quick arpeggio played in octaves that contain high frequencies. That's all that it is - try 32nd notes, if not, 16 or 32T depending on the BPM of your project. Square waves or saws (or a mixture) should do.

Good luck!

Hey glad you like the song :) Do you mean the quick synth arpeggio or the "pad"-like atmospheric sound? The latter is a sound called "Abandoned" from Omnisphere if I recall correctly.

Yeah it's just a very quick arp.
My question though: are those notes all within key or is it a chromatic sweep up?

Ok cool! That one is a sound I made on Diva actually, most of the sound comes from the processing. I think I used a fast heavily filtered delay from Soundtoys Little PrimalTap, a long modulated reverb from Valhalla VintageVerb and some Valhalla Shimmer and then slammed it pretty hard with u-he Satin which gives it that slightly distorted tone and glues the reverb nicely.

Tbh those quick arps are mostly about the notes, I usually just draw them in. I mostly use the pentatonic scale and either 16th triplet or 32nd notes.
