Soft neuro basses?
« on: January 07, 2016, 11:17:57 pm »
I've made my fair share of heavy neuro bass, but I can't seem to get the hang of the softer, milkier bass sounds similar to Movember 2015's If You Hadn't.
(just after 1:00 if the timestamp doesn't work.)

Any key characteristics to the synthesis behind something like this? I just can't nail it down.

Lowpass and bandpass filters. The harshness is all in the highs, filters will cut them out. Modulate the cutoff. One thing that works is adding a bandpass and a bunch of notches, automating them to do random crazy stuff, then bouncing what you get and chopping it up.
