Fff - Stripes [Open Collab/Remix?]
« on: January 07, 2016, 09:27:16 pm »
I started this track and I feel it has some potential but I'm at a loss with where to go from here. The chorus/drop/whatever is not serious, I just threw it in. If you feel the same way as me feel free to download the stems/midi and do whatever you feel like. Remix it, sample it, send to me to add some more, whatever you want really.

Or some feedback/criticism on what you think I can do with the track would be nice too. You don't have to waste your bandwidth and time on downloading and contributing to this crap if you don't want to.

also, the title is just placeholder for the moment, but if you like it then whatever. I'm drunk so i guess it's cool.

maybe try reworking the melody it doesn't flow too well, drop kind of needs a transition/buildup comes in unexpected, drums are on point, groove flows well.

Interesting dissonence with the variation of the chord progression. Great sounding drums in the intro part. Near the end, try to decide on a key signature. The kick drum in the end part is not in the same key, so it sounds out of place. Are you going for a trap main part?

To kinda expand on what was already said:

I was looking at your midi notes for the rhodes, and the second to last chord has a C# instead of a D - it feels kinda discordant with the rest of the loop (idk if that was intentional or not). The groove you have going is nice, so you could stick with that and try to change up your chord structures. It looks like you're in EbM, so we could sort of elaborate on that bassline you have of D, Eb, C/D/Eb. I played with the vocals and kept the rhodes concept, but took it in a bit of a different direction. I think the hip hop vibe probably works better with the bass sound you had so don't feel like you need to go with this, but here's my spin on it. Maybe it'll give you some new ideas!

Thanks man, I appreciate that. I usually add risers/impacts and all that fancy stuff near the end of the track, but if I can think of ways to write it in before then I'll do that for sure. The melody is a little awkward too, I'll rework it for a bit.

Like I said earlier, that section is not serious. I just threw it in as placeholder to maybe give other people an idea on where to go after the intro section. I'll keep that in mind in the future though, thanks! :)

I really like that. Like a lot. I'm definitely going to work in something like that, I think the mood of that will contrast well with the intro if I can get them to flow well. Thanks a bunch man, this is good stuff!

no problem! I was originally working at 104 BPM, so if you slow it down to 80 it's just a half-time tempo of your original track. see how that fits in!
