Voyali - Retro/Futuristic WIP
« on: January 07, 2016, 08:37:11 pm »
Hey, this is a song I've worked on for the past two days that I'd like feedback with. It's very VERY Oliver influenced, as you can probably tell by listening haha. Anyways, I'd love any feedback you guys could offer, whether it's arrangement or mixing/mastering, ANYTHING!

Nothing is really set in stone with the song yet as it stands, so anything is subject to change if I start hating anything haha.

Thank you all

I really like the idea in this! But the drop sounds too repetitive for me, maybe you can make it a bit shorter. Like the chords in the break, but i think the bass there is a bit too loud. And also, try to make your drums mono and add more excitement in your buildup, the drop comes out of nowhere to be honest. Hope this has helped you!

Something I think might sound neat on this would be to throw on some high-pitched, super-distorted guitar on the solo part that starts at 1:09.
A good reference for what I was hearing in my head is the sound that pops up at around 00:20 on this track: https://soundcloud.com/the-toxic-avenger-us/1-speed-original-version?in=the-toxic-avenger-us/sets/the-toxic-avenger-speed-ep

I like the song a lot though! Drums sound well mixed.

Yeah a lot of the song isn't as much of a drop but rather intro / outro for DJ mixing, but yeah I totally understand what you mean by repetitive haha. Also I believe the kick is mono, but I might've forgot to make the snare mono haha. Okay, the nowhere - drop makes sense, I'll work on that, thanks!

Wow yes really good idea, I was also thinking of throwing in some real funky - acoustic bass bits during that section, but this distorted guitar idea is fantastic thank you, now I just need to find a distorted guitar solo same haha.
