DEEP G house/ Future house Bass - MALAA style
« on: April 27, 2017, 11:32:03 pm »
I'm not after any one particular bass. But basically here is my problem. I design my bass sounds when I make G house/ Future house music like this:

https://soundcloud.com/confession/malaa-notorious-original-mix

But for the life of me I cant get my bass this DEEP.

At the moment I use square waves on massive and primarily mess with cutoff manipulation, and messing with the 4th envelope decay. I also have played around with different filters and wave shapers.

However, I just cant get it to hit you right in the soul. Furthermore, when I lower the key I lose too much body.

Try layering your bass with different frequencies if you haven't already. The bass in the song reminds me of a moog, so maybe you can try making one or taking a preset and layering it with sub, low, and/or low-mid sounds. I'm sure you already have, but keep messing with the EQ in that range.

Would you recommend using a Saw instead of a square then?

The bass sounds more saw than square to me, just lowpassed. Give it a shot! I may try to make that bass myself, so then I can be of some more used to you ;D

Don't just lowcut. It's not just lowcut. It's bandpassed upwards of around 120hz and then cut later to help give it that deep pluckiness. Try using 2 filters to create that effect.
