Where do most producers get their dialogue samples?
« on: January 07, 2016, 01:42:06 am »
I've been looking for somewhere to find quality dialogue samples like something from movies and such for quite some time now.
Anyone know of any good resources at the moment?

Not sure where a lot of people get theirs but I do know that NASA has lots of audio uploaded that includes astronaut dialogue, which may be useful

Go download Audio Hijack; it's free for any recordings of up to 10 minutes (beyond that it adds noise), which is more than enough for grabbing snippets from wherever you wanna borrow some vocals. Vine, Instagram, Youtube, Facebook, wherever.

Youtube!

I think Skrillex had to pay that girl from youtube royalties

I watch a lot of movies/tv shows/anime so I just pull whatever I think I'll use as I watch it, or just make a note of it

I sometimes scour liveleaks for samples, but this is also extremely depressing, I don't recommend it. You may find a great sample but you'll also want to go kill yourself

True, if you want to see some fucked up things, Liveleak is the place to go.

You could also just use Audacity routed through Stereo Mix.

There are some short indie films out there licensed under Creative Commons, like The Blender Foundation's stuff; sampling those would come with less baggage. Other than that, look for playthroughs of video games. Delete has a track with some gold Fallout samples, MDK did a track with Claptrap from Borderlands, and of course, FUS RO DAH. I messed around with Guild Wars 2 at one point, it has some great lines (and a lot more awful lines, but you can always ignore those).

E: LiveLeaks is probably great for stuff that can't get you into trouble, but ehhh... can I just not?
