This ¨common¨ future bass effect?
« on: November 12, 2016, 08:04:16 pm »
I´m not sure about how to made it, that´s why Im asking here, maybe one you can help me (plz, it has been stuck in my head for a while  :o)
Idk if is a volume automation, sidechain, LFO, I tried to do it with my knowledge but is not enough  :(
Here some examples:

min 1:10
min 2:59 and 3:02
min 1:33

Its like a volume up and down automation I'm not sure how to describe it but sounds like that (maybe attack automation?)

hello,
sound you're after is pretty basic (almost all future bass sound design is pretty basic tbh), starting point is to have multiple saws stacked or put in unisono and detuned, then its just about routing LFO to your filter, set rate (1/4 rate might work) with possibly high gain, if there is option in your lfo to "reset", turn it on - so each time you press key the lfo will reset and will start "wobbling" each time the same :) if you're not sure what I mean, just look on youtube and type in "future bass tutorial", there is plenty of sh*t out there covering this sound :D

Other good ways to get the future bass "flutter" effects:

  • Draw automation curves on the filter you place over the super saw chords in the shape you want the flutter - this takes a lot of time and patience, but can create an incredibly expressive and lifelike sound
  • Using a Tremolo at full depth, automate the rate of the tremolo. In Ableton, the Auto Pan with Phase set to 0.00° and the Amount set to 100% you get the same effect.
  • Similar to the first idea, place a utility/gain/balance plugin on your track and automate the volume!
