Nu World | Close to done, need some opinions! [Bass House]
« on: January 07, 2016, 12:54:42 am »
Removed my last thread because the link didn't work.

This track is very close to done, some other ears would be much needed. Any feedback about the mix/idea/arrangement are appreciated!

Thanks!

I dunno if its on purpose, but the little vocal chop that you have in the riser is only a 2nd away from the root, which is a little unorthodox. Maybe try a more consonant interval like a 5th or something? Also, the song seems to lose a ton of energy after the riser. The big thing you should be thinking about in a drop isnt so much how it sounds, but how it retains all the energy that you've built up during the riser. I would recommend adding a supersaw chord at the beginning of each bar, or a percussion loop early on. I don't know where you want to go with this track, so these are decisions you would have to make yourself. The wobble is a cool idea, and the rhythmicness that you have going on with it is nice. Hope I was helpful!

Just a little production tip, add a sub bass under everything to give more weight to the mix.

Thanks for the well thought out feedback! Most of the things you took up are design choices. But we will try changing some things to see how it sounds.

Personally I would not put sub bass under everything. That's not really my thing. The sub bass in this song is reserved strictly to the drop. To use the sub bass everywhere else would make the drop less impactfull. That's our opinion of it anyway.
