I've been playing around with it all day, the Valhalla plate reverb seems to add a click post bass note even after playing with the note release settings, any suggestions?

you might have some subtle transient existing in the bass patch or bass group.

If you want gritty reverb, i suggest you distort your reverb and tame it with EQ accordingly and stereo width control.

Worked nicely, glued some of the high gritty frequencies that were too present in the mix into the body of the sound. Thanks man
