you can do it on audio but i prefer to do snare build ups on midi cause its much easier to edit the notes

they've got the normal build up and uplifters with it, automation and eq

its the 1/4 notes for about 5 bars then 1/8, 1/16, etc  you have to play around a bit

if you use your ears, try think if its more than 1 snare, llan layers a lot, he says in his interviews

with samples and sounds, you cant get the same sound unless you are using the same sample or synth which is very difficult but you can get close to it, so try get your own sound
