I need a portable platform where i can produce bc i gonne live away from home the coming months. Because i cant take my desktop pc with me i need to buy a laptop. Now the question is what is important for the laptop, what should it have. Maybe you can recommend me a good laptop you already produce on. Thx ;D

RAM> any thing.

if you can find a laptop for under 1k with 16Gb of ram, you're golden bro.

A powerful CPU is the #1 thing you will want. Even 8 GB of RAM is enough unless you use heavy sample libraries, but in that case it's better to pick a computer with a RAM extension slot. Also, you probably don't want the smallest screen.

For me I needed a good CPU > i7
I needed a lot of ram so I got 16 GB
and then I knew i would need a lot of space for all the samples I wanted, etc, so I got a 1 TB hard drive.

All of which you can get in a gaming computer. Look into the ROG Asus 750JX on ebay. I grabbed mine for $700 and it's a beast.
A little bit heavy, but if you're not going to travel with it then it should be fine. Not a bad price considering the MSRP if you look it up is $1999

A grand for a windows based laptop can get you way more than enough power.

quad i7, 32 gb ram, 2 tb hd and 256 ssd, 17" screen. More powerful than most desktops most of us use.

Highly recommend getting a Lenovo Y700. I have the older model that has similar specs but is from 2014. The laptop works great, has a powerful Intel Core i7 quad core processor with hyperthreading (8 virtual cores). It handles anything I throw at it easily, the maximum a project has utilized the CPU is like 78%, but it had like 100 channels and lots of instances of Serum, Massive, etc.

as a computer engineering major and much use with multiple lenovos i would shy away from them for their shabby construction and programming.

just my two cents

ive had an ASUS laptop for quite some time now and does the trick nicely!! although it is getting a bit old and slow nowadays!!   All about checking those specs though but ASUS has been pretty good for me.
