In terms of EDM/Big Room is this good?
« on: January 06, 2016, 02:23:40 am »
This genre really isnt my strong suit but I had fun playing around with the idea and I wanted to know if you guys think this is a good bases for an EDM track.

I threw some really bad quick master on it so you could actually here it. None of the mixing or mastering is final.

EDIT: Thanks for all this feedback guys, now its time to turn my phone off, switch my internet off and lock my self in my room until I get this right lel

I feel like the sub in the drop could be WAY more powerful.
In terms of the actual composition, it's really kind of boring. There are lots of things you could do to really make the buildup lead somewhere if that makes sense. Give it some more melodic elements. It would be cool if your drop and buildup weren't exactly the same.
One thing I tend to notice in bigroom tracks is that they really try to make you dance, but this track doesn't really do anything for me. Give it some groove. Having nothing but a kick and one synth in the drop kinda ruins the vibe.

I think it needs more changes. The idea it's good but lacks variation.

For example...the melody on the break could be something different from the melody on the drop. Also, I would try changing some notes and layering diferent sounds. Then hear the result.

In terms of how it sounds: it's ok. The lead from the drop is a little bit loud. Maybe try putting down the volume a little bit and feel the diference.

I like how the kick and the sub bass sounds! Is it a sample or you made it yourself?  8)

Good luck!  ;) ;) ;)

I opened it in a new tab and looked away, found myself tapping my toe along to it. There's potential!

Confirmed. Once the drop happened I enjoyed it. A little more variation in the build and you'll be set!

It has a good start for sure. to add onto the variation during the drop maybe add like toms or something or a snare roll or add little drum flairs? I can hear it in my head it just needs that something else. Use some reference songs and you'll see what they do to add more groove/variety. Keep it up!

The same what everyone has been saying, it needs variation especially in the beginning. Maybe layer some chords or add drum fills every 4 beats

its cheesy as fuck, but it got potential.....and I really like cheese sometimes....

there needs to happen much more stuff in the build-up. also white noise in drop interfere with supersaw freq.
Who gives a fuck?
