KRK Rokits or something else?
« on: January 06, 2016, 09:58:10 pm »
I currently have a set of KRK Rokit 8 G2's and im looking to upgrade. The Rokit 8 G2's have a manufacturing flaw where the volume knob doesnt work properly after some time and im getting sick of it and im looking to get a new set of monitors. i really like my rokits and im thinking about getting a set of Rokit 6 G3's but im also considering other options within the same price range ($500). Any recommendations?

At the same price you can get a pair of Yamaha HS7 or even 8. Depends on what you use it for. Yamaha's sound is really cool, it's flat. Which means, if your music sounds good at Yamaha, it will sound good everywhere (almost :)) We're using the previous generation, HS80M. Absolutely satisfied.

You can even notice some old NS10 in a lot of professional studio, most of them are used just to check the sound.

Hope it helps. ;)

I second this! I regret buying my KRKs, I wish I had saved up a bit more $ and bought HS7s or HS8s... Going to sell my KRKs and upgrade soon

I'd recommend the Dynaudio Mkiii or the Adams A7x.

I have a pair of G3 KRK Rokit 5's, and I have no complaints with them so far.

They get the job done

im hoping they fixed alot of the amplifier issues they had with the G2's but i think i should probably get something other than rokits. even with my crappy G3's laying around ill i have 2 forms of reference. the HS8 seem pretty solid.

Not too sure on the issues the G2 had, but I'm glad I haven't had any issues eith my G3's.

HS8 are excellent, I've checked out several reviews of them and strongly considered them over my KRK's at first

When I first started working with audio, I hopped onto the bandwagon and purchased a pair of Rokit 6's. Of course this was a far superior sound from anything I'd heard before, but now that I've been doing this for a while, I learned quickly and grew out of the Rokits.

I was lucky enough to find a set of MK1 HR824's in my area, and have been loving them since day one. The low end is so perceivable, and clear. They're a bit warmer to me coming from the rokits, but my mixes were never the same. However, I am mixing in a treated room.

If you're in a small room, stray away from the HR824's as they are quite big, and really pack a lot of punch into them, but if you just so happen to find a set on craigslist or something, don't hesitate to check them out. They're older now, but they're famous for a reason.

Dump your ROKITS in the trash and get a set of HS8s
Stop overdoing shit. Stop downloading new plugins for the sake of it. Your fancy stereo enhancer won't make you any better musically, your hard work will.

I'd recommend the Yamaha HS7's. I switched up from KRK rokit 5s to these monitors a year and a half ago and it has taken my mixes to a higher level!
