VST for Guitars
« on: July 04, 2016, 09:11:49 pm »
I'm no guitar player, but I'd really like to purchase a VST that can create some "real" sounding guitar patches for me. Would love the flexibility to use guitar progressions in verses. Any recommendations? I've already been pointed at Trilian by Morgan Page, but still uneasy about snapping on it and dropping the $300.

Guitar Rig is an effect, you need an actual guitar to use it.

I record my own guitars, but as far as I can tell, the gold standard for sampled guitars is Shreddage by Impact Soundworks.

Honestly you're best off just going to a pawn shop and buying an old squire strat or something for $100. Guitar is one of those instruments with so many variables on a note to note basis that programming it from scratch is an absolute nightmare. I tried Vir2's plugin for a while, but it just wasn't worth the work.

Is this program going to be more rock/metal based? When I checked out the website it seemed to be more focused on that.

Trilian is for bass, but there are still some good guitar samples in there.  If you're buying it for the bass though, it's worth every penny.  I dropped the 300 (back when I was still living with my parents, I could understand the hesitation now) and I dont regret it one bit.

As far as my favorite for guitars, I have found some reeeeeally good guitar samples on Goliath by East West.
