Happy uplifting track, would love to hear your thoughts!
« on: June 14, 2016, 01:35:30 pm »
Almost at the finish line for this track and wanted to check in before I finish it off. This one is a happy uplifting track, inspired by my long time love for progressive house and uplifting trance. Would love to hear your thoughts and critique!

I would continue in that chord progression a bit differently. Would change the third chord to a different one. But that's just a matter of taste. Also I'd add some more swooshes and noise FX.

But good job anyway! :)

...but don't overdo it, because that's called being a d***k.

Thanks so much, that is all extremely helpful! I can give your liquid dnb track a listen later tonight and get you some feedback too.

Would love to pick your brain a bit more on the chord progression suggestion which I really appreciate you offering!  This track is keyed to D Minor, would love to hear if you have any suggestions as to a chord or root note that you think would fit nicely for that third spot.  Or if you have any general advice on how to keep that chord progression going :)

I'm not really good at exact chord analysis, but I can hear that first (0:53) and third chord of that progression (1:08) are the same. I really like transition between first and second chord though, so I'd leave them as they are. Again, it's matter of taste, but I'd change the third chord for for something in-key, but different. Try to shift it a few semitones away and adjust the chord to be minor or major according to what fits the song the best at the new "location".

I think your sounds a very well balanced homie. Especially loved that clap and the hats. I think the snare during the buildups is a little to boxy for my taste it kind of sticks out in the mix. But the overall vibe really brought me back to old house days <3

Thanks so much for the love!  Really appreciate your feedback on the snares too, very helpful for me :)
