Stolen Vocal Chops
« on: June 09, 2016, 04:33:21 am »
I was just browsing around on Splice and saw a vocal chops pack from this label 'Audentity.' Literally everything in that pack is just from Output's Exhale synth. Technically it's not copyright, but that's so low. Like if you're saying you're a sample company, make your own stuff from scratch. Idk.... that just gets on my nerves.

Well, all synth sounds in sample packs are from any plugin, and sometimes it's just untweaked presets :-D This is how it works  :-\

i thought splices gives you the opportunity to download what you want, as per subscription based.

it's a database, not a sample company.
Josh Huval: Honestly, the guys who are making good art are spending their time making it.

Yeah, that's why they're referring to the sample company Audentity.

And by from the synth, do you mean the loops and sounds from the actual sampler, or do you mean they created vocal chops using the plugin and uploaded those? Because if they're utilizing the plugin the way it's intended and creating musical vocal chops, there's nothing wrong with it - they created something unique with the idea.

If they're just pulling the sounds straight, without processing or alteration, that's a different issue.

A good chunk of them were just presets from the synth which is where I was like uhmmmmmm...

Yeah, that's pretty fishy - not sure if explicitly illegal though, like you said.
