WIP: Need Feedback/Advice On Mix
« on: January 06, 2016, 02:21:10 am »
Hey there, I'm working on a mix for a cover I'm making of Travis Scott and The Weeknd's "Wonderful." I'm kind of new to mixing but have spent about 10 hours on it and it's sounding close to how I hoped it would. It'd be great if someone could take a listen and tell me if they hear any issues or have any advice for improving the mix, especially with my vocals, which I especially had some trouble with. Thanks so much.

I'm just gonna make a list of things I come across in chronological order, so here we go:

- Your sub bass sounds like it's an octave too high
- The kick and snare don't really fit the vibe you're going for
- Transitions are somewhat abrupt
- I feel like some of the focal elements of this track are buried behind the vocals
- The reese bass you're using has a strange stereo element to it, I don't like how it sits around my right ear
- It wouldn't hurt to add some variation, this song sounds really repetitive atm

Good luck with your track!

Thanks so much for listening! Could you point me in the direction of better kick/snare choices? Thanks again for all the pointers, it helps a lot!

You can find some really good drum samples in the Trisamples and Boi1da packs, all of which are free to download. I use them in nearly every song.
