Be There | Some Dumb Progressive BS
« on: June 06, 2016, 09:30:54 pm »
Hey there! First post to this forum, so I figured I'd start things off right with one of the tracks I'm more proud of. I'll start critiquing other tracks on the forum as well to keep things balanced though!

Anyway, this track was more inspired by Tom & Jame's track What Goes Around. The vocal sampling during the break is really cool, and the creation of a verse using a single phrase caught my attention. I went to Splice Sounds, found a vocal sample I liked, and started slicing and pitching!

My main inspirations being StadiumX and Tom Swoon both affected the sound of this track as well.

Please tell me what you think and what I could do to improve my production!

Thanks!

~ Paul Green

this is a decently produced track. great job. the break at 2:12 was pretty neat when you included a different drumming style/live drums to this progressive house. the vocal slices are also pretty nice.

the piano at 0:53 needs reverb or something to make it more spacious because you have this large atmosphere during the break.
during the drop, the bass doesn't fit right in the mix. it might be that it's fighting for the highs or something, but something about it just doesn't seem right. this issue might be better solved if you had a different bass

More than likely the bass has unnecessary highs. The bass is usually where I struggle with progressive house. Not quite sure why.. I'll try some different designs in the future! Thanks so much!
