Compressor Attack/Release Chart
« on: May 15, 2016, 10:30:26 pm »
I don't know about you guys, but I always get very confused when setting my attack and release times with compressors, especially when whatever I'm compressing doesn't have noticeable transients. Quick search found this super useful chart I thought I'd share that describes what different attack and release values actually do to the signal!

Turn down your threshold as low as you can, put the ratio as high as you can and then use this chart.

It will sound totally like crap but you will clearly hear what the attack and release does to your music.

Then, turn the ratio to something sensible and put the threshold to taste.

Tha braught a lot of understanding to me.
