Nice dude! I really like the different elements, and they really compliment eachother. I'd get going with this style as I haven't heard too much like it and it could be something new. The main thing I'd look at if your trying to replicate a Tennyson vibe is maybe softening up some of the synths and the mix in general. Tennyson seem to have a more chilled out, peaceful vibe, whereas yours is a lot more in your face and a bit more aggressive. Maybe that's what you were trying? Im not sure. So yeah, in general add a bit more wetness and tone down a lot of the sounds to create more of a vibe from your mix

yeah i agree with this for the most part. pretty dang cool, but could use some velocity automation on your keys and more organic-sounding instruments and samples if tennyson is your go-to

pretty cool...as a huge fan of tennyson, imo it's their chord progressions and composition that makes them so unique and awesome. Yeah their sounds are quirky and cool, but it's the jazzy chord progressions and interesting rhythms that impress me. As musicians, they're extremely talented (theory-wise)--they also record their songs live (even the drums are done live, just on electronic pads) and then finetune it after.

So the natural human element in the timing and velocities is a huge aspect of their music. That can all be done within just a DAW too though.

I think from a sound design perspective you got some really good sounds that are pretty similar--the bass is awesome (any tips on getting that woozy sound?)--as mentioned before though, its not nearly as laidback and chill as their music. This is like halfway between that and like glitch-hop or something. You could mess with the rhythym more to go half-time and double-time at certain parts and in general just tone down the synths a little bit to make it more chill.

From a composition/musical theory perspective, I think you could definitely work on making more interesting, weird, and complex progressions with jazz influences

Cool track though for sure.

Drainpuppet!  Glad to see you on here.  Love Climb!!
Im a huge fan of Tennyson as well.  I think you took inspiration well and applied your own style well.  I think the general progression got a little stale because it's so simple and stays the same for so long.  I would recommend looking into jazz and blues chords and change it up with rhythmic sequence changes perhaps.  Love those fills, and the mixdown is sick as always.

It doesnt speak Jazz to me, but overall great work.  :)

I really like the vibe you created with the song :) If you want more Tennyson then throw in some crazy panning as well... the latest EP sounds like you're in a freaking movie theater.
