Freeze Time Remix WIP
« on: May 01, 2016, 02:45:32 pm »
Hey guys! I've been working on this remix for a while now and I'd appreciate any feedback concerning mixdown, composition, or whatever you feel would make the track sound bigger / better. Hope you like it! Thanks!

Holy cow man, those kicks are gorgeous. Great sidechaining as well, and solid synth backup. I wish the vocals had some more reverb though.

When the snare comes in at 0:30 I'm left wanting a little more. I would perhaps shorten up the sample (lower the 'out') and bring the volume up some as well. The percussion other than that sounds really good though.

The guitar that starts at 1:15 is pretty nice and a good idea, but I wish it was processed a little more. Adding some reverb and delay to that sound plus some more high end would do wonders. Also when the hat comes in at 1:45 I'm not sure if I like that much panning to the left. Since not much else is going on right there, I think a hat placed right in the middle would work better.

The drop at 3:00 is kinda underwhelming. I would definitely take out the rides on every beat, and give the lead some more depth and reverb. There just seems to be something missing in the low/mid range as well. I think a heavier pad right here would do wonders.

Oooooo, I do not like the snare-type sample that starts at 4:30. It doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the percussion to me, and sounds a little too off-beat for my taste. I understand the want for syncopation and varying snare timing for more vibe, but I think it's a hair overdone here.

Really really nice work so far on this though, it sounds super professional. Almost forgot to mention by the way that I really like the bass work - it fits really nicely.

You should let me know when the full track's done, I'd love to hear the finished product.  :)
