Chain of Fools (bootleg)
« on: April 23, 2016, 07:16:33 pm »
So, I've wanted to try make some calmer song and I've found the acapella of this song (maybe you know it):

Chain of Fools by Aretha Franklin*

And here's my WIP project :) I need to work on transitions and mix of course (full of work). But, what do you think about this ? What you like, what not ? Any feedback pleased :) Thank You !

*In my bootleg, the used acapella is performed by Risse

I like the blips in the intro, maybe try to introduce them by opening up a slightly resonant high pass filter. I would change your kick to something with a sharper sounding transient, right now it sounds boxy and can be more punchy. The biggest issue with your track is that it lacks excitement going along. I want to hear more contrast between sections along with smoother transitions between parts. For instance, the strings or pad chords in the background can change (Both sonically and melodically) every once in a while to keep things fresh.

Thanks for your opinion ! They're on point and I really appreciate that :) Basicly, I would still work on this with the mix, you know more EQing and volume levels, maybe on some transitions and the whole volume up. The thing is this is my first full song ever so I want to end it bc for months I've been doing some "tracks", some pieces but no ending.. When I will end this and go to make another song I hope to see a little progress haha :)
