Risers in Massive or other analog Synth.
« on: April 13, 2016, 12:35:19 am »
I've been having a lot of fun with massive and making different risers/builds to layer into tracks.  I have wondered if there's a best way to make the rise take longer periods of time (16 or 32 bars) Using the ADSR attached to the pitch and gain in Massive really only works for an 8 bar rise, unless I bounce the audio and time stretch it, or play a long succession of notes going up the keyboard bit by bit, but that seems to produced a stepping rise instead of a clean slope.

Thoughts?

What other NI or Logic synths do you like to build risers with?

try using a performer as a modulation source for the pitch. change the ratio to however many bars you want the faller/riser to be over 1. it should look something like this.

Awesome!  Will try that for sure.  Cheers!

I definitely like to automate the pitch manually. Two reasons: It leaves you with modulation slots available for further LFOing of the pitch. ...and also you can tweak it exactly to length and shape you need.
"Earth is round right? Look at it from right angle and you'll be always on top of the world."
...but don't overdo it, because that's called being a d***k.

Not sure what DAW you're in but I just use Massive's macro knobs, bind one to a few things, name it "Rise", then automate that in FL Studio. It gives you a lot more control.

Sometimes quick, sometimes slow, sometimes it's an LFO.

I dig the automation suggestions, and I will likely use them too.  I like to see what is possible when pretending the synth I'm using is in stand alone.  Cheers team.
