Arabian Night | Middle Eastern vibe 128bpm dance track
« on: April 12, 2016, 07:11:24 pm »
Hello all! I've been lurking for awhile now and I decided I would post my first finished track here to find out what you all think. enjoy :)

The music industry is just a giant fail machine. There are way more broken dreams and failed artists then there are successes to speak of. Therefore, its easy to say the successes are the anomaly and the failure is the product.

Extremely impressive for your first finished track, already sounds like you have quite a handle on what you are doing!  The arrangement and sounds are awesome.   It sounds very unique with a distinct style, yet would fit right in with the other tracks in a typical festival set.

Overall the mix sounds very clean and balanced.  There were only two areas that I had thoughts on.  First, would have liked to hear your kick come through a bit more through the mix, as it sounds like some of the other layers may be covering it up once you have a lot of them in.  If you listen to the kick in relation to the mix during the first 15 seconds and compare with the next 15 seconds after that (or during the drop), you may notice what I mean.  I would check your side-chaining/LFO carve-out settings out to make sure that your kick is coming through consistently throughout the entire song regardless of how many layers are playing.  Also, you may want to check your EQ settings to see if there is any low end you can free up from your other layers to make more room for the kick.  If you don't have your kick already playing in mono, switching it to mono may also help.

Again just to emphasize, this is incredibly impressive for your first finished track, keep it up man!

agree with the first comment totally...love that you're already trying to make unique music that still makes sense next to what else is going on in the scene right now!!

OMG! Thank you both for the feedback. I had the same feeling about that kick drum. I'll mess with the EQ a bit and see if I can get some stuff out of the way.

You guys noticing that I'm trying to make something unique and different... this gif sums up my feelings:

Not a fan of the metallic reverb tail on the bassline that pops out in the intro and I think you could of messed with filtering on the bassline at points.

Safe sound choices but over all pretty dope, nice job.

Yea, I went back and forth on that reverb tail thing.. It really helped it sit in drop but I should have filtered it out during the beginning... live and learn and make it better next time. :)
