Studio Setup In The Corner/Mixing Issues?
« on: April 07, 2016, 04:26:27 pm »
So, I know I'll be committing one of the deadly sins of producing, but I have absolutely no other place to have a studio setup, except the corner of the room. I'm going to need more than one display for more than one reason, and, of course, it would also be ideal to have the three of them in a corner configuration.

I've planned accordingly, of course, and in doing so, I've got monitors (Rokit 5) lined up for purchase soon, and these have front firing bass ports, so they won't be firing the lows right into the corner, where they will well up and screw with my sonic interpretation of the mix, and so on.

I was hoping that plopping down some bass traps and acoustic paneling in that corner would probably help negate those leftover caught frequencies.

Any help would be appreciated.

I used to have a pair of Rokit 5s and I can tell you that despite them being front-firing subs, I still came across base issues when my setup was in a corner or close to the wall.  Don't be surprised if they perform the same for you..
