Vera - Blizzard || EDM, my best track so far :D
« on: April 03, 2016, 10:59:18 am »
Slightly drum and bassy and quite heavy. Definitely my favorite track of all of mine so far.
Please let me know where I'm lacking and what I still need to improve on. I've gotten it sounding a lot less muddy and crowded, but the headphones I used could mean the bass is a little too strong or the kick hits too hard or something so tell me if it does, and other problems I may have. Thanks so much!

There's absolutely 0 drums in the mix when it drops.

Bass over takes every thing, your lead does too.

That crash sample is WAY out of place.

drop your synths, and bass in volume and leave your drums alone. Listen to it, and see how it sounds.

Then turn up your drums a bit.

once you've done that, get another balance on your drums and the rest of your synths.
Josh Huval: Honestly, the guys who are making good art are spending their time making it.

0 drums..? Thought sidechaining would sort of give the kicks a bit of breathing space but maybe I just haven't heard it on good enough monitors. I'll play around a little. Thank you for the advice :))
