Is Kontakt worth the investment?

Pretty straightforward question.  Also extends to the various libraries... what are everybody's favorite libraries?  The only one I have is the New York Grand.

Definitely. Nothing comes close in terms of sheer amounts of sample libraries and quality imo. If you like to work with samples and acoustic instruments it is a must.

I'd say it's worth the investment, though I'd argue EastWest Play has a higher quality sample library (but wayyyyyyy more expensive lol). Definitely one of the best "getting serious about production" buys, depending upon your route. As far as favorite libraries, I just picked up the Una Corda piano and it has blown me away with the tonal quality. It's my default piano now (Alicia's Keys used to be my go to patch).

I fell in love with Kontakt and cannot rate it highly enough, the amount of sounds that thing has makes it a veritable gold mine of inspiration for me.

Well shit, my "to buy" list just keeps growing. This sounds amazing, thanks for the tip.

No problem! It's really a completely unique character for a piano, and the clicky nature of some of the fabrics is one of the most aurally satisfying sensations. I've been learning to play piano so sometimes I'll just load up Komplete Kontrol as a standalone program and noodle around with it. If you get your hands on it, try playing the Song of Storms from Ocarina of Time on it with a silk or pleather fabric insert and some big spring reverb. Very spooky and a lot of fun.

I think kontakt is definitely worth the investment. It's at least worth your time to go and download the free player if you haven't already and find some free libraries, or buy some cheaper libraries. Or do what I did, get the free player and buy expensive powerhouse libraries like output's Exhale.

I'm so interested in that synth, haha. How do you like it? Worth the buy?

I can already feel it making my phat bangers very very way more stronger.

But seriously, it's a great tool. It's got LOADS of presets that i'm still not done playing with and building your own sounds with it is another level of fun. I'd highly recommend it, it's quite the workhorse.

I would say yes if you can get it on sale, otherwise I'd just save up for Komplete because it has so much more than just default Kontakt.
