When to not use Liner Phase EQ?

Assuming you have the processing power for it, is there ever a reason to avoid using a Liner Phase over a standard EQ?

There's a reason to use it, rather than avoid using it.

You can use it in mastering, because the it reduces or eliminates smearing.
