Feedback for a trance track
« on: March 13, 2016, 02:17:20 pm »
I'm working on this new track. Inspired by the sound of Will Atkinson, I wanted to have a fairly simple melody and a really driving track kick+bass. Let me know what you think. Wav-version can be downloaded on SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/martin-leblanc-eigtved/martin-leblanc-spitzer

The track starts in the breakdown. I haven't done the intro.

I'm not that familiar with trance, but sounds like you're on the right track. The melody works, although it's nothing really memorable, and the groove is there. The mix sounds kind of thin, too much stuff in the high end. And to me, the lead in the beginning sounds a bit annoying, reminds me of a fly or a mosquito! Might be related to the ear fatigue from the overall mix though.

I feel like you nailed the general vibe that Will Atkinson has in his tracks, but like Arktopolis said, you're really lacking in the low end. And that first lead is too nasally IMO.

Thank you for the comments.

I've tried remove some of the annoying high end and layering the lead with a synth one octave lower.
