FL Studio crackling ?????????????????????????????
« on: March 03, 2016, 09:30:39 pm »
Hey guys, just ran into a fairly unusual issue recently. Whenever I load up FL Studio, any sound played starts to crackle. The same happens when I load ANY plugin or drag a sample. I noticed it the other day when I loaded up an instance of Reaktor and any sort of sound played, even triggered samples would begin to crackle. The only way I can stop the crackling is by going into Options>Settings>Audio and clicking off, then clicking on the "Mix in buffer switch" button. That's the only way the crackling stops UNTIL I load up another plugin (including effects, even stock plugins) or drag out a sample, then it starts again and I have to go through the whole process. This is a fairly annoying issue and I've absolutely no clue what to do, it's really pissing me off. Any of you guys run across this problem too? Or have any fixes?

You should just contact FL support.

Are you using an audio interface? What audio drivers are you using? ASIO drivers are recommended. Also play with your buffer size setting. Turning it up will be safer quality-wise but will increase latency as well which isn't good for playing synths and stuff.

Could you maybe upload a audio recording of what's happening, or even better a screencast of specifically what happens?

I have had this happen to me in the past. At the top towards the middle it will say "cpu" when you play your track does the number next to "cpu" skyrocket from say 10 to 80? If so the program is overloading your cpu and there are other programs in the background clogging up your cpu preventing FL Studio's from running smoothly.

Here is a link that will link you to multiple youtube videos that deal with the issue you are experiencing.

Try this.

Options > Audio Settings > Try either ASIO or FL ASIO And increase the buffer or decrease it.

also open your projects in your 'extended memory'.exe      -  it may be called something different in 12 but there is always a version of FL in your image-line programs folder that is equipped with a few extra gig of memory.

-----also make sure your laptops plugged into the power source ;) haha - if its anything like mine if I don't have it plugged in I get the same!

Isnt a tad bit amazing that we can make full tracks mix and master them and release from one single computer.. It's truly insane.
