Frank Zappa is definitely weird and I love his music. Also Ween.

+1 to Frank Zappa  ;D

Steve Vai, Nujabes, Joe Hisaishi, Plini, Sithu Aye, Nobuo Uematsu, and Ryuichi Sakamoto are some artists outside of electronic music that really influence the way I write and are relatively weird depending on the listener.

You're not alone! I'm also very weird in the range of my musical taste - I love and still listen to Lady Gaga's Fame Monster or Dr. Dre,  Eric Prydz, Stevie Wonder, Cassius, Wolfgang Gartner, Breakbot, Dubvisiom, Tears for Fears, Bee Gees... pretty weird combination :D

Production-wise, I'm inspired by Baauer, Diplo, Fred Falke, Robin Schulz, HeRobust, Pharrell Williams, DJ Shadow

I'm not an anime fan, but I used to watch Silver Fang as a kid and its soundtrack left a pretty lasting effect on me. This is still my yardstick for sadness in a song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HamWMR2f52s

Another awkward one would be the Rocky IV soundtrack by Vince DiCola.

I actually hate this about myself. I listen to sooo many styles. Hardcore fans of many of them hate some of the other ones. ...but I like it all. Grew up on swedish pop band I'm too ashamed to name (not Abba, though :D), few german poppy DJs I'm also too ashamed to name, then gone through ATB, Armin, Tiesto, tyDi, Deadmau5, Skrillex, then got into mr.SuicideSheep music and now loving that all new wave of electronic producers a-la Ramesses B, Koan Sound, Seven Lions, Aaron Static, Sorrow, Faux Tales, Zhu lately ...but also loving D'n'B in lot of forms. Etherwood, Calyx & TeeBee, Noisia, Hybrid Minds. ...and hip hop. All from good old Em, to new people like Logic, Dylan Owen, Chiddy Bang, Rizzle Kicks, Kinetics etc... And some rock-ish and alternative stuff like Fall Out Boy, 21 Pilots, All Time Low, Oh Wonder. And some acoustic guys. Ed Sheeran, Jack Garrat, Jeremy Loops, Ryan Keen ... I'm just crazy.

It might seem like nicely "diverse" but I hate how this forces me to get bored by making just one style of music. ...so I switch them a lot. Makes it harder to market yourself to labels and such.

...but don't overdo it, because that's called being a d***k.

Huge Ween fan. You can learn a lot about song writing by listening to them
